Thank you from St Georges Dec 23

The Christmas Hamper this year was won by a hospital transport driver.  The hamper is donated by the coaches and Jane Lacey (our Club Welfare Officer, who works at the A&E department at St Georges), puts all the names of those who are working on Christmas Day into a hat and draws a name, and the lucky winner goes home with the hamper full of Christmas goodies and treats.

Congratulations – British Gymnastics Helpers

Congratulations to the following young people from our club, who attended a British Gymnastics Course at the weekend, and have all gained an accreditation for being a “British Gymnastics Helper”.  This means that they will be able to help with coaching under direct or assisted supervision of a lead coach within our club, or even at their school.  We are so very proud of these young people, many of whom have been with our club since they were as young as 3 years old.  We look forward to helping them on their gymnastics coaching journey and look forward to working them in the gym.    Alex, Cassia, Dorota, George, Georgia, Haziqat, Isla, Lucy, Solomia, and Vyniha.

Christmas Parties, Raffle and Cake Stall

A great time was had by all at the annual Christmas Parties.  We had seven parties in total this year!  Santa visited and there was lots of fun and games including bouncy castles, trampolines and “how to make a snowman”!  We raised £120 in the raffle, with the proceeds going towards a piece of equipment in memory of Zareeyah.  1st Prize (the hamper) was won by Edith,  2nd Price (course fees paid for half a term) was won by Grace and 3rd Prize (a beautiful hand made cupcake bouquet, kindly donated by one of the mums) was won by Sarah.

We raised £266 on the cake stall and the proceeds will go to Trinity Hospice, in memory of Mick Lacey.  Thank you to the volunteers for helping with the cake stall and also to YOU the members for your cake donations, we had quite a few boxes of cakes left over so we donated to the local Food Bank in Tooting!

Rhythmic workshops with Hannah Martin!

Hannah visited the Club on Friday 30 September and spent over 3 hours working with a number of enthusiastic gymnasts from our Rec 1, 2 and 3 classes. With the “Country and Western” theme of our upcoming display in mind, the gymnasts were particularly excited to learn a few “tricks” with the rope from Hannah!  She also wowed gymnasts and parents alike with a beautiful and expressive combined freehand and ball routine, showcasing her incredible flexibility and dance skills as well as her command of the apparatus.  A great time was had by all and we look forward to Hannah’s next visit and continue to support her in her journey and dream of reaching the Olympics in 2020.
